What Is Crossfit?

CrossFit is the principal strength and conditioning program for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide. Since then it has evolved to be an all inclusive fitness program for people of any athletic capability. Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Combat, survival, sports, and life all reward this kind of fitness and, on average, punish the specialist.

The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. We’ve used our same routines for elderly individuals with heart disease and cage fighters one month out from televised bouts. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs. The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree not kind. Our armed forces, skiers, mountain bike riders and housewives have found their best fitness from the same regimen.

I'm new to CrossFit. What should I expect?

CrossFit Prominent offers Intro to CrossFit Prominent, an introductory class designed to make sure you can execute movements soundly and efficiently. You'll learn the basic movements to make sure you gain proficiency, then we'll add on appropriate intensity and complexity for your Baseline workout.

Our Intro is offered as a one-on-one session or a small group class with one of our knowledgeable trainers. You’ll learn everything from the foundational movements to the lingo, and how our classes are run. We slow down the pace for more in-depth focus on form and technique. You’ll be fully prepared to enter our regular CrossFit classes! Because this session is private or limited to a small group, your coach has the opportunity to get to know you and how to help you make quick progress.

Is CrossFit dangerous?

In short, yes, CrossFit can be dangerous. But not in the ways you might believe. With improper coaching, unkept equipment, and a misguided attitude, CrossFit can be very dangerous – but so can riding your bike or driving your car. The experienced and proven CrossFit coaches you’ll find at CrossFit Prominent will ensure that you’re training in the safest most effective and efficient way possible.

What's a WOD?

A WOD is the workout of the day. We program a different WOD everyday!
